Set up your publication the right way
Name, promise, design and settings — the four foundations to get right before your first post.

1. Choose a name and a one-line promise
Your name should be easy to say and remember. Your one-line promise (the tagline) tells a stranger exactly what they get and who it's for.
- 1Write 10 name options and say each one out loud.
- 2Write your tagline as: “A weekly newsletter for ___ about ___.”
- 3Ask three people in your audience which they'd click.
2. Design for trust
A clean logo, one accent color and a clear cover image make you look established from day one. Keep it simple — consistency beats decoration.
3. Write your About page before your first post
New visitors land on your About page more than you think. Say who it's for, why you, what they'll get and how often.
4. Check your settings
Set your publishing schedule, welcome email, sections and recommendations early, so every new reader gets the full experience.
